Discover a documented landscape.
Explore a catalog of 185,000+ documented sites across 60+
countries, the scale described for the current App Store release.
Browse places by their character, then read the record to
understand the information attached to them.
A documented site is not necessarily a visitor attraction. Use the
map for discovery and research, then check current public access
or make arrangements with the owner or operator before a visit.

Read the source behind the pin.
Protected community pins begin with an approximate area; on
standard sites the exact coordinates open with earned reputation,
a contribution key, or uMaps Pro. Imported open-data records do
not require earned keys; the published dataset preserves exact
upstream coordinates. Check the record’s source and precision
instead of assuming every pin follows the same model.
The location shown and the right to visit are separate things.
Even an exact location record does not grant property access,
establish an authorized route, or replace current visitor
information.

Contribute to the picture.
Documentation and visit records help build the community’s
knowledge. Useful contributions have context: what was observed,
the date, and which parts remain uncertain. A clear observation is
more valuable than a broad claim that cannot be checked.
Keep sensitive location information within the app’s rules.
Protected community coordinates and access notes should not be
republished outside uMaps. Open-data reuse follows its published
license.

Understand the community model.
For protected community records, reputation of 50 or more opens
the trusted tier, while contribution-earned keys unlock individual
eligible records. Keys are earned, never sold. The most dangerous
community records (severe difficulty, or lethal hazards) remain
trusted-tier only.
uMaps Pro is the paid route to those same exact locations on
standard records, alongside the earned routes. It does not mint
keys, grant reputation, or reach the trusted-tier-only records,
which stay reputation-earned for every member. Imported open-data
records do not require earned keys.
